The Making of Masterpieces: Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Palace Museum

  • Hong Kong Palace Museum Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon Hong Kong SAR China (map)

This special exhibition offers visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appreciate thirty five (six paintings mounted as an album) early treasures of Chinese painting and calligraphy from the Palace Museum collection, many of which will be displayed outside of the Palace Museum for the first time. With three rotations, it explores how these works were made and transmitted through various artistic, cultural, and historical lenses, and how they came to be viewed as masterpieces in the Chinese art canon.
