Designed as an immersive experience at the crossroads of a guided tour and a journey, the exhibition "China of porcelain from the 9th to the 18th century" is an opportunity to discover some of the exceptional richness of the museum's collections, and to cover almost a millennium of technical and stylistic developments. A digital setting for an unprecedented selection of around forty emblematic porcelain pieces, from the museum's collections, and presented for the first time in a 3D universe.

Finesse, transparency, whiteness, form, technical virtuosity, symbolism of the motifs, reminiscences of the past, subtle details tirelessly admired… The material is at the very heart of the exhibition. The porcelain is felt in all aspects of the visit, from the texture of the supports, to the soft luminosity illuminating the space, passing through the translucency of the labels.
For this virtual exhibition, the realization of which has been entrusted to the company Art+Spaces by Le Socle, a space has been created which is inspired by the ground floor of the museum, while transforming it and giving it new uses. .
Forgotten windows and barriers, the visitor enjoys an unprecedented proximity to the works that he can manipulate at 360 degrees and thus admire the reflection of light on the surfaces, obtained thanks to precise photogrammetry (digitization technique using from a multitude of high definition photos).
The rain, the wind, the snow, also materialize before the eyes of the visitor, thanks to the use of 3D in real time, the luminosity changes according to the hour, the sound is spatialized and the Parisian weather invites itself to outside the showroom.
The immersion continues with a flower bed springing from the ground, a landscape of the plains of China and a mystical temple where a dragon prowls, these are thus three fantastic, original scenes, entirely imagined and designed which come alive during the visit. Inspired by the decorations of the works, they offer a visualization of the aesthetics of porcelains and the possibility of entering their worlds.
As during a visit to the museum, visitors can wander freely through the exhibition and stop at the works of their choice or, if they wish, be guided by an audio tour, in French or English.
Under the curatorship of Claire Déléry, curator at the National Museum of Asian Arts – Guimet, this new virtual exhibition is meticulously designed to recreate as closely as possible the sensations of a physical visit, demonstrating the added value of digital technology in the presentation of works at the public thanks to the multidisciplinarity and the wealth of experience.
