Jacky Xie Chengxuan’s first solo exhibition “A Man, A Man & A Man” at Grotto SKW.

Winner of Grotto FA Award 2020 at CUHK, Xie is an exciting young painter with unparallel skillsets, maturity and complexity.  This collection is about the human figure, human activities, emotions and metaphors.  Xie takes inspiration from Renaissance anatomy to Romanticism and Edgar Allen Poe’s mystery and the macabre.  His subjects are strangers yet hauntingly familiar that connects with the audience with an unnerving string.  Xie’s world lies beneath absurdity and chaos which is, indeed, an reflection of our time.
