We have several well-known Bangkok writers in this issue. Steve Van Beek has lived a decade in Thailand after spending several years as a volunteer farmworker in a Nepali village. William Warren has lived in Thailand for 19 years. Among his published works are books on Bangkok and an authoritative account of Jim Thompson, his strange disappearance, and his house with its famous collection of antiquities. Diane L. Umemoto is a Managing Editor of Sawaddi, the journal of the American Women’s Club in Thailand.
Paul Sithi-Amnuai’s proposal for a 14th and ultimate Thai constitution is our SPECIAL REPORT. An economist and social architect who served as adviser to ECAFE in the early 1960’s, Mr. Sithi-Amnuai is a much published essayist on financial topics.
Pratuang Emcharoen, our PORTFOLIO contemporary artist, is the winner of four national awards. His work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Sao Paulo, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, in addition to Bangkok.
